Hi-move dowels - Dowel clip
The dowel for shrinkage compensating concrete and pre-stressed floor slabs
Internal joints are necessary in large shrinkage compensating concrete (SCC) and prestressed concrete floor slabs. These joints present special problems to designers.
Load transfer. Load transfer across joints is important in all slab joints. It becomes even more critical in stressed slabs where thicknesses are often reduced.
Joint Width. Both SCC and stressed slab construction methods result in wide joint openings. These can reach 35 mm in many stressed slab joints. In these joints, square dowels give better bending characteristics than plate dowels.
Longitudinal Movement. Considerable longitudinal movement occurs at joints in both types of slabs. In SCC slabs, up to 30 mm differential movement may occur along the line of the joint.
