G.020 REINFORCING BAR COUPLERS
Design Service
Ancon CCL will provide technical assistance on the selection of the most appropriate coupling system. Our technical staff will be pleased to discuss individual applications.
Quality Assurance
Ancon CCL couplers are designed and manufactured to the quality requirements of ISO 9001:1994
Characteristic Strengths of High Yield Reinforcing bar

Reinforcing Bar Couplers
Lapped joints are not always appropriate, particularly when large diameter bars are involved. The use of Ancon CCL couplers can simplify the design and construction of reinforced concrete, and reduce the amount of reinforcement being used. Our range of couplers is one of the largest in the world.

Coupler Selection
All Ancon CCL couplers are designed to exceed the characteristic strength of the reinforcing bar.
The four types of Ancon CCL reinforcing bar couplers require different fixing methods. This together with quantity to be fixed and the location will determine which is the most appropriate coupler for a particular situation.
BT
BT couplers are the smallest and the most cost-effective coupler system in our range. The ends of the bars are enlarged and a parallel thread is cut onto the ends to suit the threaded coupler. They are easily installed by unskilled labour with a pipe or chain wrench; calibrated torque wrenches are not required.

Bargrip
Bargrip couplers are installed using a hydraulic swaging press. Bargrip couplers are suitable where large quantities of bars are to be coupled and the bars are at sufficiently wide centres for the press to be fixed around the splice.

MBT
MBT couplers are suitable where it is not convenient to have the bar ends prepared for Bartec, or there is insufficient access for the Bargrip swaging press. The bars are supported on two serrated saddles and locked in place by a series of special lockshear bolts.

Grout Sleeve
The Grout Sleeve is designed for joining reinforcing bars in precast concrete construction. The system has sufficient tolerance to ensure that precast elements are correctly aligned.
